This rustic Valentine door hanger was a labor of love.  I really wanted it to have an older look even though I was making a brand new product.  I used antique wax to distress the handwritten paper in the background and on the edges of the envelope hearts. The touch of lace around the hearts helps to instill a vintage feeling.  The bigger heart in the middle is a corrugated metal heart that I aged with paint and antique wax to look old and rusty.  The four small hearts were red plastic which I painted to look metal and rusty.  I made the cupids arrow in the center and stained the beads on the hanger to have a worn look. 
I love the way this door hanger turned out.   When I see it I envision the story of a life long romance.  This letter wasn't written between a young couple but is between a couple of 30+ years.  A couple that has seen their fair share of  hard times and laughter. They have grown old together.  Through this they have developed a deeper love than they ever imagined possible.  When I look at this letter, I think of my grandparents and a secret love letter written from my grandfather to my grandmother.  I hope you see this and imagine a beautiful love story of your own as well.  Get it now while it's on sale and hang it in your home all month long and enjoy the feeling of a life long love.
